Star of classic film "Easy Rider", Peter Fonda stumbled across a dead body whilst driving down Sunset Boulevard in the Pacific Palisades community of west Los Angeles on Wednesday, reports have emerged. 70 year old Fonda noticed that a car had been parked on the side street off Sunset Boulevard for two days.

So he stopped to check it out, according to Los Angeles Police Homicide Detective Allen Shubert. "He looked in the vehicle and saw a body in there and called the fire department," Shubert said. A man who had committed suicide several days before was slumped over the wheel of the sedan, he said. The man's identity has not been made public, but he was not a celebrity, he said.

So an unsavoury incident for the actor and here's hoping that relations of the man are able to cope with the situation as best as they possibly can.

The Verizon iphone is finally upon us and this new gadget from Verizon makes it possible for users to have a CDMA alternative to the AT&T version which appeared in the summer of 2010. The Verizon version of iphone 4 has a few major differences to the AT&T version and the most significant is the antenna not having a visible gap on top and a lack of a SIM slot.

Ars contributor Chris Foresman reported that bridging the remaining gap on the Verizon iPhone (using the "death grip," he says) did not result in any kind of CDMA signal attenuation. He also placed a call while death gripping and said that there was no noticeable signal loss. Despite the wording used on Verizon's FAQ page, the WiFi hotspots are controlled via built-in preferences, not from a separate app loaded onto the device.

So another device from Verizon which is sure to garner some mass popularity from the public and see it fly off the shelves.

Arizona inhabitants are making strides to prevent the Westboro Baptist Church from disrupting the funerals for the victims of Saturday's tragic shootings in Tucson, with bikers and others planning a massive counter attack and state lawmakers fast-tracking a bill to harbor the group.

The Kansas-based Westboro church, (example of their protest pictured left) is notorious for showing up at the funerals of dead soldiers and other high-profile gatherings wielding anti-gay signs but when the church announced it would picket the funeral Thursday Gabrielle Giffords, Tucson- and Phoenix-area residents started organizing immediately. "It makes me sick to my stomach," said Glen Littell, who's bringing a pack of bikers from the Phoenix Motorcycle Rider Group to Tucson on Thursday. "They're a stench from a slaughterhouse."

So the Westboro Baptist Church are stoking more flames, this time at the funerals of the Arizona shootings and here's hoping that their presence is eradicated.

US house majority leader Tom DeLay has wound being on "Dancing with The Stars" to being locked up in Prison as the ex Texas congressman has been found guilty of conspiring to direct laundered corporate money to Texas candidates in 2002 and as a result has been sentenced to three years in prison by a Texas Judge.

Last November, a jury had also found Mr. DeLay guilty of money laundering, and he accepted 10 years of probation for that in lieu of an additional five years of prison time. In the meantime, his attorneys are appealing the conviction. DeLay was found guilty of conspiring in 2002 to use his political action committee to send $190,000 in corporate contributions to the Republican National Committee, which then sent the money to candidates for the Texas House.

So the former government man is now in a very sticky situation and it will be a while until he becomes a free man.

moment of silence

President Obama oversaw American with a moment of silence on Monday for the victims of the Arizona shooting. Standing in sombre mood with his wife, Michelle, their heads bowed, overlooking the South Lawn of the White House. They stepped outside and upon the solitary toll of a bell made by a Marine guard, silence fell in Washington and across the nation.

Hundreds of Congressional aides gathered on the steps of the East Front of the Capitol to mark the moment. The dead included a member of their own ranks, Gabriel M. Zimmerman, the director of community outreach for Representative Gabrielle Giffords; Mr. Zimmerman had been organizing the sort of constituent event that many staff members have attended themselves without much concern about public safety. Most lawmakers remained in their home states and districts.

So the victims of the Arizona tragedy are paid a fitting salute to by Americans today and all overseen by president Obama.

The organisation American Renaissance denies DHS charges and any affiliation with the suspected Arizona shooter, Jared Loughner, reports say. A DHS memo obtained by news corporation Fox news suggested a heavy suspicion linking Jared Loughner(pictured left), the man accused of being the Tuscan shooter who opened fire on Saturday to the organisation American Renaissance.

In an effort to counter those charges, the head of the organization responded directly to Fox News’ James Rosen on Sunday. Jared Taylor called DHS’ views “scurrilous” and took especial issue with the reference to his group being “anti-ZOG.” “That is complete nonsense,” he said. “I have absolutely no idea what DHS is talking about. We have never used the term ‘ZOG.’ We have never thought in those terms. If this is the level of research we are getting from DHS, then Heaven help us.”

So DHS appear to be under criticism from the organisation American Renaissance and whether their findings hold much weight is still to be seen.

The granddaughter of Dallas Green, former manager of the Philadelphia Phillies and lead them to a world series victory in 1980, is one of the victims of the Arizona shootings and is the youngest. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was wounded and a federal judge were also killed in Tucson, Ariz.

Christina-Taylor Green, born on Sept. 11, 2001 and pictured left, had been elected to the student council at her elementary school and went to the Safeway to meet Giffords. The 9-year-old came from a baseball family and was becoming interested in politics.

"She was a good speaker. I could have easily seen her as a politician," her father, John Green, told the Arizona Star-News. "She was all about helping people, and being involved," her mother, Roxanna, said. "It's so tragic."

So a sad tale in Arizona with someone so young taken away by the shocking violence inflicted on innocent victims.

Is facebook really shutting down

Rumors are rife today that the social network site Facebook is set to be shut down come March 15th. It's proving to be yet another internet hoax that was put out by WeeklyWorldNews. The report states that founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, "wants his old life back" and "managing facebook has become too stressful".

It also says that “users will no longer be able to access their Facebook accounts on March 15th. In the past, WeeklyWorldNews has also started rumors about Michelle Obama being pregnant, and Michael Jackson being on the moon. Considering how successful Facebook is, the odds the there being any truth to these claims are slim to none. There is no response yet from Mark Zuckerberg, but all signs point to Facebook closing being nothing other than another Facebook/Internet hoax.

So another hoax that has been stoked up. What's the motive for the hoax? Who knows but there'll have been a lot of disgruntled people who first heard the news today.
