Shrek: The Musical [Cast Recording]

SHREK THE MUSICAL was recently stamped as a "Big fat hit" by newspaper USA today, and "true happiness" by the New York Times. The Dreamworks Theatricals and Neal Street Productions, Ltd star show began at the Broadway Theatre in New York City on December 14th, 2008. In March the highly anticipated original cast recording is to be spread out by Decca Broadway and available everywhere.

On January 12th, the entire cast of SHREK THE MUSICAL will be congregating at Legacy Studios in New York City to record the cast album which will undoubtedly capture the sheer joy and infectious appeal of this not-to-be-missed stage production.

Highlights of the forthcoming disc include Brian d'Arcy James' rousing "Big, Bright Beautiful World" "I Know It's Today,"showcasing the charismatic Sutton Foster; Christopher Sieber leading the cast in the over-the-top "What's Up, Duloc?;" the hilarious "Don't Let Me Go," sung by Daniel Breaker; and "Freak Flag," featuring John Tartaglia and the entire company.

Amazon customer review: "Shrek the Musical accomplishes what many adapted musicals fail to do: it remains true to it's source material, but manages to become a work all of its own.
A few of the songs are a little cumbersome, but Brian D'Arcy James is inspired as Shrek, and of couse Sutton Foster is perfection. I would buy a CD of her singing warm-up scales!!
This is a perfect addition for any music library!"

So a well recommended take on the Shrek feature film and certainly a good choice of musical to watch if you enjoy musicals in general.
