Shocking events have unravelled in Tampa thursday night as Julie Powers Schenecker, 50 year old wife of a US Army Colonel, has confessed to murdering her teen son and daughter, police have reported. According to reports the mother killed her children for being "mouthy" with her.

She first shot son Beau, 13, twice in the head with a .38 caliber pistol for "talking back" as she was driving him to soccer practice in suburban Tampa, according to the arrest affidavit. The police report says she then drove to her $448,000 family home and shot her daughter Calyx, 16 – a high school cross country running star – in the face as she sat studying at the computer. Police spokeswoman Laura McElroy says referring to her excuse of them being "mouthy" with "That was the only reason she provided to our detectives."

So a horrific tale has been exposed and surely the cause of the event is due to a mental instability with the mother and she will surely pay for the crimes.

Students at a Mountain View school will be released at 1:30pm today so teachers and other staff can meet with representatives of the S-EX-ual Assault Victims Advocate Center. School workers and people SAVA will then join small groups and altogether during a session of 2 hours.

The sessions are designed to help students and families cope with the arrest of Mountain View teacher Courtney Bowles. Prosecutors charged this week with two 31-year-Bowles crimes and a misdemeanor after police found her naked in a car with a student 16 years Friday night. Bowles, Fort Collins, is accused of S-EX-ually assaulting a child by one in a position of trust and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, both class 4 crimes. She is also accused of an offense of S-EX-ual assault on a child.

So a horrific tale has come to an end as the teacher is charged for her misdemeanours in the case.

Today sees the 25th anniversary of the Challenger explosion which took place in January 28th 1986. The Space shuttle challenger disaster happened 73 seconds after it took to flight and nine miles above the Atlantic. NASA will be remembering the tragedy and paying tribute to those who lost their lives on the spacecraft.

"This year marks the 25th anniversary of the loss of the Challenger—a tragedy that caused us to completely rethink our systems and processes as we worked to make the shuttle safer," NASA Administrator Charles Bolden said in an AFP report. Along with deputy administrator Lori Garver, Bolden honored the lives of those lost in Apollo 1 and space shuttles Challenger and Columbia by laying a wreath at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia Thursday morning.

So the voyagers on the challenger remembered with due respect by NASA and many others today on the 25th anniversary of the tragedy.

Folk Rock hero Jimmy Buffet had to endure a fall during a concert of his that took place in Sydney, Australia today as flashing lights temporarily impaired his vision. TMZ reports that the musician is in better shape at the moment and had been released after being taken to hospital following the occurence.

The 64-year-old 'Margaritaville' singer crashed into a gap at the edge of his stage, where he hit his head, suffering a massive cut. The concert during which the accident occurred was tacked onto the singer's three sold-out shows in honor of Australia Day, which celebrates the first British fleet's arrival in Sydney in 1788. According to an eyewitness, "It looked like he did a massive face plant after his encore and pretty much didn't get up."

So an unfortunate turn of events for the guitarist but he seems to be in good shape again after being released from hospital.

Richard Keys took to the radio today on Talksport, to voice his apologies regarding the furoure regarding his and sacked co presenter, Andy Gray's sexist remarks which had been caught on tape regarding female line assistant Sian Massey at the weekend. He went on blamed "dark forces at work" for escalating the Sky Sports sexism row, which has led to the dismissal of his former partner Andy Gray and put his own job on the line.

"We were wrong. It was wrong. It shouldn't have happened, but there are some dark forces at work here," said an emotional Keys on Talksport. "From something that was controllable, I have found the reaction to be extraordinary. I cannot believe the frenzy that's blown up. If I had been able to get out the fact that I'd apologised on Sunday I don't think it would have been as frenzied as it has been."

So whether Richard Keys survives the furoure regarding this issue is yet to be seen. Andy Gray has since commented that he will possible sue sky over his dismissal.

Animal services officers are usually used to residents complaining about huge reptiles only for them to come to the scene where it is and find a small garden snake. Well they were in for a shock today when in a condo complex in Riverside, California, a 5-foot Monitor lizard was wandering around.

"She said she saw it and almost jumped back in her truck," said John Welsh, spokesman for Riverside County Animal Services. "The residents were freaking out because here's the Godzilla-like creature walking down the sidewalk." Selter managed to get a catch pole – a long pole with a loop at the end that's used to handle vicious dogs – around the animal's neck, Welsh said. It was docile at first, but then it started hissing.

So a shock circumstances for the animal services authorities and reports say that they guess it was somebody's pet as lizards that big don't exist in that climate usually.

Apparently the worst of Toyota's recall concerns are yet to come. The world's biggest automaker declared plans today that they will have to recall nearly 1.4 million vehicles globally, for problems regarding oil leaks, faulty fuel pumps, and fuel lines.

The number includes about 245,000 Lexus IS and GS models in the U.S. market for the fuel issue; the remainder concern oil leaks on the Japan-market Toyota Noah, Voxy, and Isis minivans, plus about 140,000 Toyota Avensis models in other international markets, produced between May 2000 and October 2008. Toyota says that no accidents have been reported related to this latest issue, which may cause the engine to stall. An Alabama law firm have claims filed in a lawsuit against Taco Bell that they have been using false advertising when they label their products having "seasoned ground beef" in them. However the meat mix sold by Taco Bell restaurant includes binders and extenders and isn't up to the requirement set by US agriculture for them to label their meat "beef".

The class-action lawsuit was filed Friday in federal court in the Central District of California by the Montgomery law firm Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis & Miles. Attorney Dee Miles said attorneys had Taco Bell's "meat mixture" tested and found it contained less that 35 percent beef. The lawsuit on behalf of Taco Bell customer and California resident Amanda Obney does not seek monetary damages, but asks the court to order Taco Bell to be honest in its advertising.

So clearly a false advertising issue Taco Bell will have to rectify if they are to lift the lawsuit placed against them.

Andy Gray Sacked

Sky Sports presenter Andy Gray has whipped up a storm with sexist comments made regarding a female linesman and as a result has been immediately sacked from Sky with the reason reportedly because there is "new evidence of unacceptable and offensive behaviour".

Gray, Sky's expert pundit for almost two decades in a long-standing partnership with Keys, was originally suspended yesterday after a Sunday newspaper published a transcript of the pair criticising female match official Sian Massey. The pair discussed Massey's appointment for the game at Molineux on Saturday, speaking when they believed their microphones were switched off. They agreed that female officials "don't know the offside rule", with Keys adding: "I can guarantee you there'll be a big one today. Kenny [Dalglish] will go potty."

So a shocking end to Andy Gray's tenure as Sky Sports commentator and he surely will be aggrieved by the harm his comments have done to him.

She says he walked out the door and left her with virtually nothing. He left her and moved to New York to an apartment he never let her see where he joined his mistress, Marjorie. The worst part she explains, she never got an apology.

Fitness guru Jack LaLanne, who for 80 years, ushered Americans into better physical shape, has died at the age of 96 yesterday. He was a pioneer of working out and an icon whose muscular physique and enthusiasm was the landmark for all TV diet experts who followed in his footsteps.

"The Godfather of Fitness" as LaLanne was affectionately called, ate well, exercised and made it his personal mission to make sure everyone else did the same. LaLanne's agent Rick Hersh told the Associated Press that he died Sunday at his Morro Bay home from respiratory failure caused by pneumonia. Elaine LaLanne, who often appeared on television with her husband, said in a statement that "I have not only lost my husband and a great American icon, but the best friend and most loving partner anyone could ever hope for."

So a sad farewell to the fitness icon who blazed a trail for all fitness regimes that were used by TV fitness programmes that followed him.

ABC Family airs the long-delayed sequel, "Mean Girls 2," on Jan. 23, no doubt hoping that its predecessor's box office success and cult status will translate to the made-for-TV arena. That's impossible. "2," for all it's teen cattiness and unrealistically dressed high school students, cannot transcend guilty pleasure territory.

So there will surely be a wave of fans eagerly awaiting the sequel to one of the noughties biggest films and whether it's a patch on the first is to be seen.

On Wednesday, Environmental Tectonics Corp. declared that it has named Steve Wood president of its Biomedical Division, which manufactures and sells the BaraMed line of clinical hyperbaric chambers. The Southampton, Pa., company said Wood has been involved with hyperbaric medicine for more than 25 years.

He began his career as a respiratory therapist in 1972 and has been involved with hyperbaric medicine for a quarter of a century as a clinician and with the development of hyperbaric medicine facilities and the manufacturing of hyperbaric chambers. Hyperbaric medicine involves treating a person with 100 percent oxygen at a pressure greater than the normal pressure of the atmosphere by putting the person inside a hyperbaric chamber. Among other things, it’s used to treat decompression illness and carbon monoxide intoxication.

So good news for expert in the Hyperbaric field, Steve Wood and here's hoping there's more great developments in this field of medicine.

ohio unemployment

Ohio's unemployment figures were chalked up at the end of the year as a 9th year in a row where the rates of people being employed has fallen, and a fall in payroll numbers was put in the shade by a bigger drop in people searching for employment. The state Department of Job and Family Services on Friday declared that Ohio’s jobless rate hit a seasonally adjusted 9.6 percent in December.

That’s down from 9.8 percent in November and more than a percentage point below the 10.8 percent jobless rate seen a year ago. Over the month, nonfarm payroll dropped by more than 9,000 jobs to hit 5 million workers. That’s largely on a 7,300-job decline in Ohio’s goods-producing sector, which saw declines in construction and manufacturing. The much-larger service sector only lost 1,300 jobs over the month.

So lean times in the Ohio area continue to worsen and the state will be hoping there are areas which can help tackle the bleak state.
