People tend to lose the plot when their facebook goes down, even if it's just for a minute. Well today, the site was taken down for 5 minutes and the big hoorah that was made over it was as if the site had been down for 5 days. Facebook took the site down so they could make updates to the interface.

But also they had to do some damage control, they said “For a brief period of time, some internal prototypes were made public to a number of people externally,” a Facebook rep told Forbes.

“As a result, we took the site down for a few minutes. It’s back up, and we apologize for the inconvenience.” We used to just get our entertainment from TV or the movies, but Facebook – to legions of adults, tweens and teens alike generations of users – has become the go-to entertainment time waster.

So a somewhat distressing day for many who were deeply concerned about the site being down for mere minutes!
