The marine corps marathon took place on Sunday the 31st of October. The course involved going through georgetown, part the lincoln and Jefferson memorials, The U.S. capitol and the pentagon and it's distance was 26.2 miles long. There were 30,000 runners which included 100 registered wheelchair and hand-cycle participants.

Jacob Bradosky of Centerville Ohio won the men’s division. The second lieutenant at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California was running his first marathon, and finished in 2 hours, 23 minutes and 30 seconds. Janet Cherobon of Rome, Ga., won her sixth straight marathon in the women’s division. She finished in 2 hours 39 minutes and 19 seconds. According to bleacherreport.com, “In the women’s division, Janet Cherbon of Kenya was a late entrant to the event and took home the top spot, finishing in a time of two hours, 39 minutes and 19 seconds.” This event was open to anyone who wanted to race and since it was held on Halloween, many of the runners wore costumes, making the event a bit more playful.
