white rock marathon

White Rock Marathon

A record breaking field of 22,000 marathoners, half marathoners and relay runners will gather at Fair Park this morning for the MetroPCS Dallas White Rock Marathon.
The elite group of men are expected to complete the 26.2 miles course in roughly two hours and 16 minutes whereas the women are probably going to complete it in less than 2:50.

The event starts and finishes at the State Fairgrounds for the first time. The course heads into downtown Dallas, passes the Dallas Arts District and Turtle Creek, goes through Highland Park, around White Rock Lake, down historic Swiss Avenue and finishes in front of the Hall of State building at Fair Park. The national weather service is forecasting temperatures in the mid-30s for the 8 a.m. race start, but it will feel like 27 degrees with 11-mph wind from the north.

So an exciting prospect for the runners who will be hoping to put in a good performance and have this day to look back on in fond recollection.
