Famous female boxer, Christy Martin, who clocked up a career record of 49-5-3 (31 KOs), has been taken to hospital after being shot and stabbed yesterday and it took place in her Orange County, Florida home say reports from TMZ. The 42 year old ex boxing legend and cover of a 1996 "sports illustrated" cover reportedly escaped her home following the attack and was able to wave down a motorist.

After she was rushed to the hospital, she managed to tell police that the attacker was her husband, James Martin, according to the TMZ report. The report goes on to state that James Martin is still at large and they are currently "on the hunt" for the suspected attacker. Don King, Martin's former promoter told TMZ, "I am shocked and saddened to see this happen to Christie. I send my prayers and well wishes."

So a horrible event that the former boxing legend has had to suffer and hopefully she will be able to recuperate soon.
