Margarito has been accused by pundits of being a "dirty fighter" despite having an impressive record of 27 wins and 6 defeats in his career thus far. A lot of the claims stem from his 2009 bout with Shane Mosley where Maragrito was found to have a wet white substance on his hands that was believed to be plaster of paris. Referees forced Margarito to retape his hands before the fight, which he lost handily.

The Pacquiao vs Margarito boxing match set for 9 PM EST Saturday night was the scene of some news during the weigh in as the champ hit the scales. His weight was a shockingly low 144.6 pounds which was far below the agreed upon 150 pound limit and 156 pounds for the weight class. Margarito hit the scales at 150 pounds which both camps had agreed to be the limit ahead of the bout. While many fans were shocked during the weigh-ins, trainers for Pacquiao were not worried with the fighters weight at 145 for the fight against Miguel Cotto.
